Official opening of the IGC 2012
The IGC 2012 will be officially opened with a concert in the Cologne
Philharmonic. The traditional opening speeches will be accompanied by a
varied musical programme, performed by a symphony orchestra, a choir
and a big band.
Entrance to the opening concert is free. Please note that the number of
places for this event is limited. Registration is essential!!!

Reception in Cologne Town Hall
On the evening of the second day of the Congress, the Lord Mayor of
Cologne will receive the IGC 2012 participants in the
“Piazetta” of the historic Town Hall.
The historic Town Hall represents the freedom of Cologne’s
citizens like no other building in the city. It was erected by the
Cologne guilds at the end of the 14th century as a symbol of their
dominance in the town and has survived the centuries almost unchanged.
With its location in the heart of the city, the citizens of Cologne
continued in the tradition of the city’s Roman founders, who
erected their praetorium on the same site and shaped the city’s
fortunes from here.
The Lord Mayor’s reception is not included in the congress fee
and can be booked as an extra. Please note that the number of places
for this event is limited.

Congress Dinner
The Congress Dinner is traditionally a highlight in the social
programme of all IGCs and provides an opportunity for the participants
to relax and enjoy meeting outside the scientific programme.
The Congress Dinner of the IGC 2012 will take place in the stylish
atmosphere of Cologne’s “Gilden im Zims” brewery.
This brewery in the heart of Cologne’s old town adds elements of
modern gastronomy to the traditions of the Cologne breweries, creating
a unique atmosphere. The menu includes many regional specialities newly
interpreted.

The Congress Dinner is not included in the congress feet and can be
booked as a supplementary option. The Congress Dinner costs 60.00
€, which covers a buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes
as well as drinks for the evening. Please note that the number of
places for this event is limited.
